Flower Wise: What's in season for Spring?

While spring is the season of flowers, there are certain blooms which you're more likely to see in bloom at this time of year. If you're like me, you like knowing what may be easiest to get prior to placing your order for Easter flowers or a Passover bouquet to bring your seder hostess.

Look for cheerful daisies and the classic spring daffodil as they begin peeking through this time of year.  Also, several highly fragrant flowers such as hyacinth and freesia are now in season - though these flowers are often too delicate to do well in floral arrangements and may be best appreciated in a garden setting.

Flowers grown from a bulb like tulips are also in season in various parts of the US and Canada in the early months of spring.

Delicate and lovely lilies of the valley come out in spring, along with azaleas, peonies, pansies and violets. Irises also make a big impact and are a great bloom to highlight in spring bouquets.

In larger trees and bush form, lilac, cherry blossoms, forsythia and pussy willow will brighten up the landscape soon.

As summer approaches, or if you're planning a fall wedding, you can also refer to our Flower Guides on Teleflora.com for an overview of seasonal flowers.

It's a little early for irises in Chicago, but the daffodil buds are about to break!  We eagerly await!

I believe tulips are almost at thier peak now in order requests. And Daffodils are taking over alot of events in my area. Of course the American Cancer Society had a daffodill give away the other day. I believe it was nationwide. That is alot of Daffodils!
