Welcome back to the horoscope page, where each month you can read a fun take on the future and see the flower associated with your sign.
Capricorn: Dec. 22-Jan. 20 / Flower: African violet
Nothing better than a brand new year and lots of calendar space for ultra-organized Caps to fill in with ambitious plans and projects. Allow some flexibility in your master scheme and maybe even some spontaneity! At the end of the month, you may have an important conversation with a partner or boss about getting more support, either at home or at work. Think carefully about what you’ll say and what you need to ask for. Keep a positive tone and keep your expectations realistic. Don’t worry, however, if the talk doesn’t go exactly as you’ve planned. You will be heard. On the 14th, 23rd and 30th you will be touched by tiny moments of magic. And if you feel like sending yourself flowers on your b’day, there ain’t nothing wrong with that!
Aquarius: Jan. 21-Feb. 19 / Flower: Orchid
New year’s resolutions don’t always sit so well with you. That’s because so much of your energy is spent on innovating and improving all year long. So, don’t feel too bad if you don’t have a list of improvements to make or habits to break. Meanwhile, a persistent worry will suddenly cease. Try not to let a new fear or concern take its place; just savor the stillness. A co-worker may make an odd request; consider it carefully and if you can help, do so. It’s always smart to make deposits in the favor bank. Treat yourself to a little something on the 26th.
Pisces: Feb. 20-March 20 / Flower: Alstroemeria
As we approach the buzz and excitement of the Golden Globes and Oscars, you will have parallel developments that make you like a star! First, you will take a much-deserved break, perhaps an exotic vacation. Indulge yourself and don’t feel guilty. Oh, and be sure to leave your Blackberry at home. When you’re back, tap your inner-stylist so that you’re looking your best because your social calendar will be packed the last week of the month. And when a romance suddenly heats up, you’ll need to be crafty to avoid the paparazzi. Trust your gut from the 12th to the 21st and on 31st listen to your heart, not your head.
Aries: March 21-April 20 / Flower: Tulip
You may be planning a big event this year and there’s a risk it is becoming too much of a production. A party, wedding or other event should always be an expression of your personality, first and foremost. So with each decision, check to see that you are being true to yourself. Your gathering will be successful and you will be less stressed. At work, your planning skills are also in demand. That’s because your team is likely in need of a fun, team-building outing. Whether you have a happy hour or a coffee and dessert night, just get everyone together and bond! Be forgiving (and a tad forgetful) on the 19th and 26th.
Taurus: April 21-May 21 / Flower: Lily
You may be experiencing the post-holiday blahs … parties over, presents opened, no more corks to pop. Let yourself feel what you need to feel. Before you know it, you be involved in a new project that stimulates and challenges you. Don’t be discouraged if you perceive a setback around the 25th; it will work itself out if you go with the flow. Remember that if you forgot to send a gift or greeting, it’s never too late to send warm wishes. On the romance front, you may be in for a superb surprise, such as a trip. If you do travel, follow this advice: Take half as many clothes as you think you need and twice as much money. :)
Gemini: May 22-June 21 / Flower: Rose
Work is starting to feel a bit crazy, but this is a good problem to have. And you’ll have extra energy this month to put your plans in action and see them come to fruition. You’re busy outside of work too, so you might feel a bit harried. You can’t please everyone so don’t be shy about sometimes saying no; people will understand. That said, a friend or relative may ask you to keep a secret; be sure to oblige. This will help defuse a situation that has the potential to develop into a full-on drama. You may be delighted by a surprise source of cash at the end of the month. Spend a bit and stash the rest; there may be a rainy day around the corner. Don’t give in to negativity on the 18th.
Cancer: June 22-July 22 / Flower: Delphinium
For a few days a month, you may struggle with a feeling of “why me?” It may just be a case of random bad luck so don’t spend too much time wondering what you did to deserve this snag. The good news is that you will learn an important lesson about your own resiliency and strength, which you had perhaps previously underestimated. By the end of the month, you will see things in a more positive light, thanks to the attention of a treasured friend. That said, the outlook isn’t all glum. In fact, you may find yourself planning an exciting getaway. And a romantic development will do much to ward off winter doldrums. It’s also a good time to find little ways you can go green, like using your own cloth bag for little trips to the grocery store. You will have excellent ideas this month and your creativity will easily flow.
Leo: July 23- Aug. 22 / Flower: Sunflower
If you break a bone, it will heal. If you break a plate, you can buy another. If you break someone’s trust, only very rarely can it be replaced. Consider this fact of life this month because you may be tempted to do something that is out of character. Since Leo can be a tad impulsive, try to curb that tendency this month. Speaking of trust, you can also trust that the universe is supporting you as you pursue a long-held dream. A new development in your love life gives you extra energy. The 17th and 24th are lucky. Make a point of treating yourself to a spa appointment by month’s end.
Virgo: Aug. 23-Sept. 23 / Flower: Daisy
To be fully in the moment, we must be at peace with the past. So, if you find that nostalgia is pulling your heartstrings, let yourself take a trip down memory lane. It’s perfectly fine to remember and reflect as long as you don’t get stuck there or waste energy overanalyzing missteps or mistakes. Instead, think about people and places that are meaningful to you. Is there a way you can honor a cherished friend or a lesson you can pass on to someone else? Redefining your job title may bring abundant opportunities for you. It’s good to be goofy on the 23rd. :)
Libra: Sept. 24-Oct. 23 / Flower: Hydrangea
Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” This month and this year, delve beneath the definition: What constitutes beauty, both fleeting and forever? Who and what is truly beautiful? How can beauty be created and cultivated? Be grateful for all forms of loveliness and be glad you have the sensitivity and open-mindedness to appreciate the sublime. Then ponder your dreams, from last night, from five years ago, from childhood. Is there one that you have neglected? Life is short, after all, so why not take the plunge?
Scorpio: Oct. 24-Nov. 22 / Flower: Peony
There is an Indian proverb that says: “For the friendship of two, the patience of one is required.” Patience is a tall order for you this month because you’d much rather be passionate and, truth be told, you’d rather be more than friends. Similarly, married/attached Scorps may be experiencing tension of their own. Say your piece and speak your mind, then have faith that things will work out for the best. Meanwhile, distract yourself with a new hobby like ice-skating, tennis or cooking. Who knows, you might decide to make a bowl of gumbo for your team at work. On the 16th, think twice before snapping up a “bargain.”
Sagittarius: Nov. 23-Dec. 21 / Flower: Carnation
Jon Stewart, a showbiz Sag, said this about developing material: “The process is to spot things that would be grist for the funny mill. In some respects, the heavier subjects are the ones that are most loaded with opportunity because they have the most … potential energy, so to delve into that gives you the largest combustion, the most interest.” Chances are you don’t need to come up with comedy for a living, but there is wisdom nonetheless in his words. Process: How can you refine yours? Opportunity: Is there something so big or so seemingly small that you are not identifying? Energy: Where is yours best spent? Meanwhile, your homework pays off on the 15th and a surprise invitation may come your way by month’s end.
Flower Fact of the Day: For the time-crunched and weather-challenged, sending flowers is an easy way to brighten a birthday. Pink roses, in particular, are a great choice for birthday flowers because they represent admiration.
